History of Victory Church
The Church officially began in 1999 when a group of Christians who had been travelling regularly to worship with Riverside Church Banff, started to meet in the Town House in Buckie. This continued to be their meeting place until the building at 24 East Church Street was bought at the end of 2008.A full renovation was carried out to the premises which had previously been a youth café under the ownership of the Church of Scotland. The renovation was completed in 2009 to how we find it today with the official opening celebration being held on 27th June that year.
The Church remained part of Harvest Ministries, the parent group of the Riverside Churches, until 2015 when a series of events led it to become independent under the leadership of Pastor John Coppard. In 2017 Pastor Coppard began his Assemblies Of God ministers training and by 2018 the church had been accepted as part of the AOG Great Britain network.
Major challenges were faced during the COVID pandemic when the Pastor and a leader passed away within a month of each other towards the end of 2021.
The remaining leaders and members felt committed to the work of the Church and with some oversight from their nearest AOG Pastors continued to meet regularly. With new leaders coming on to serve together with existing leaders the church moved forward to where it is today.
The building which had been rented from Harvest Ministries since 2015 was taken into the ownership of Riverside Christian Church, Buckie in October 2023.
Riverside Chrisitan Church changed its name to become Victory Church, Buckie in July 2024.
Our Vision – Leading people to victory, through Jesus.
Our vision at Victory Church is to see the love of Jesus shared with the people in Buckie and the surrounding area. Every community member should be able to come to the church and feel welcome and included. In hearing God’s word, we want them all to come to know the victory over sin that can be found in Jesus. Our church ministries are all focused on presenting God's love in a relevant, yet biblically sound, manner to people of all ages, from toddlers to seniors. We desire to see lives changed and disciples made as we grow together in our Christian faith.
We believe God has a future and a purpose for this fellowship which is immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. (Eph 3v20)
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15 v 57).
